here are many new items, most of these are setting specific -


equipment name, the rural and city cost with silver standard,


general information, rules about some of the equipment



dogsled, which is used to port person and supplies across ice and snow


wedge of wood, with harnesses of leather connected to it's front


pulled by dogs, which are tough but must be managed, fed, and directed




sled dogs, a breed that is tough, weather-hardened, intelligent, strong


they come in groups, and are bred and sold for sledding, their specialty


they are usually obstinate, but all dogs are different



simple goats, hardy and enduring – they may be milked or butchered


here, they are never butchered, and are sacred – they are family


they aren't livestock to Bannari, goats are children, parents



crates – meant to be nailed shut – used for holding things for safe transit


wooden, nails sealing it closed – holding something, lots moves in crates


crates are often the way things get moved on seafaring vessels



sledge, like a dogsled – but harnessed with some people – who pulled it along


given names, like ships – holding supplies for mounting expeditions


used instead of relying on dogs – which were backup or used in tandem

use prevents carrying many supplies, but is expedient

citrus fruit – mostly just limes – critical to prevent scurvy

causes irritability, sadness – this may result in death



pemmican, compromised of meat and fat – is stable for storage


extremely calorically dense – nutritionally complete


often has berries added – and fuels furriers, explorers, hunters



coffee – earthy roasted black blood, boiling hot cups, drank constantly


brewed in batches, from ground coffee beans – the caffeine is critical


hot liquids help raise body temperature, which is critical



sugar, the sweet brown granules – burlap sacks with molasses stains


add to tea, coffee, cocoa – pure energy, immediate carbs


keeps well, and doled out in lumps – extra lumps rationed out on birthdays



salt – preserver and essence of the sea, used in most all cooking


given to goats and other livestock – can be used to melt ice


salt crystals are packed around some meat to preserve it, like stockfish



life berries – made into preserves, jam, leather, juice, alcohol


also added to pemmican, these berries restore 1HP per berry

cooking pots – metal and noisy clanging – mostly used for cooking, duh

and in tough times, used for sterilizing surgical equipment



blubber comes from whales – it is whale fat in solid lumps, waxy, soft


the fat is rendered, then used to provide bright and smokeless light


when used in normal oil lamps, which is half of why whales are hunted

portable scale – weighs things, scales take weights of lead, measures gravity


brass metal instrument – core of metrology – rations food and pay


knowing how much is carried, stored, set aside – can be life or death



cord, twine, string – knots are important for securing things, which is key


tying down and up – repairing, preparing – wrapped around packages


strung up sausages, tying down barrels, securing bundles of hide



sewing kit – for fixing clothes, which is nigh essential out of town


see, most people were their own tailors, and a quick stitch is easy


thimble, needles, thread on spools – a small tin – perhaps a pair of shears



snow shovel, which is different than a spade, for a good reason

sometimes someone has to saw a limb off, to prevent gangrene death



snow goggles prevent snowblindness, caused by sun on reflective snow


the bright rays jump of the white expanse, searing retinas, dry eyes


no sight, or partial blindness – these goggles can often prevent this



navigation equipment, such as sextant – nocturnal – compass -


the ship's log – astrolabe – hourglass – quadrant – chart – needle bittacle


dead reckoning – skill and measurement manifesting angles



stone and bone weapons, flint tipped spears – grisly human femur bone clubs


bear bone daggers, caribou horn knives – atlatls, leather slings hurl rocks
