Cavern 52

Image
Cavern 52 Three or four chambers, and many interesting parallel or horizontal passages alongside some deep vertical drops. Vertical height is 702 feet. Two passages appear as entrance/exit, but there are many curves or loops that light be broken by a simple additional exit, and this would add a lot of quality to chases or pathing routes through this cavern. The edit adds color and opens the space a lot. it also adds feature/area names, and could be easily altered or added to, and the names are a good start to imagine feature descriptions.

Cavern 51

Image
Cavern 51 Four passages in or out, and ~3-4 chambers connected by passages. Lots of vertical and horizontal interplay, and potentially a good place to set up a base or camp. 174 feet vertically. The edit adds ink blots around to create visual interest. It could also potentially be a way to add background elements, like one layer deeper, and this might be explored in the future. Things like passages back and around, or smaller tunnels that are Implied. Could also be ore deposits or coal or something...

Cavern 50

Image
Cavern 50 This one is too complicated to describe. It is 380 feet of vertical height. The edit is sliced and rearranged.

Cavern 49

Image
Cavern 49 no time to explain. 993 feet. daubed on dungeon wall

Cavern 48

Image
Cavern 48 This cavern has four shafts down. Then a chamber/level.Then two more shafts down. A large chamber. Then some overhangs and one passage down. Into a chamber with four upshafts that deadend to the left and a passage up and out and down and out to the right. Total vertical height: 569 feet. This edit will be mysterious until cavern 75+. Suffice to say it is important.

Cavern 47

Image
Cavern 47 One shaft in, lots of sideshafts, and lots of horizontal shafts in this cavern. One level, three legs down, second level, two legs and a hole into a chamber, from the chamber a passage down to a loop and either a dead end or a large opening. To the left down in a dead end or an exit shaft. Vertical height is 367 feet. The edit adds a sketchy hexagonal grid and blue and yellow.

Cavern 46

Image
Cavern 46 One passage in from the left. One passage out from the right. The leftmost enters a small room, then more passage into a larger chamber or a turn into a small chamber/passage. From the right all the way down is a room, and adjacent a large chamber, but instead if one turns, you enter a passage that is a small loop connected to the largest chamber in this cave. It is 361 feet of vertical drop. Here is a alien stone/unusual stone formation version. Less space for movement, but a passage could be added, and there is more space for bugs and animals and bones and coins and water and fungi and algae and bats and everything else that could be in crevices in the cold stone.

Cavern 45

Image
Cavern 45 Lots of shelves in today's cavern, and mostly it is one large chamber with a midway bracket. For all intents and purposes, there are 4 shafts down, and maybe one really small shaft going down and to the right. The total vertical height for this cavern is 2103 ft, so this cavern can fit skyscrapers in it. This makes all the small shelves and side passages large enough to actually use. The edit adds a Giant Ant colony.

Cavern 44

Image
Cavern 44 Two shafts into this cavern, and the rest is a loose connection of half passage/half chamber. Looks like a sideways view of a alien heart, or some other organ. This cave is smaller than usual, coming in at 88 ft of vertical height. This edit is another try at stone texture while still keeping visibility/visual clarity in focus.

Cavern 43

Image
Cavern 43 Three shafts up, from what looks like the top of one chamber. Several chambers, some larger, and one side passage to the left that may be an exit/side entrance. Multiple shelves and sidepassages in the middle of this cavern, between two larger chambers. It is 711 feet of vertical height, so a big cavern! The edit is a GIF, a test of echolocation or tremor or sonar type effects. Looks cool doesn't it!

Cavern 42

Image
Cavern 42 One dip to the right, and three passages in. One is pretty much a vertical chamber, and the others are normal shafts. Then a series of U-shaped ledges and chambers-with perhaps one exit going to the right. It is 221 feet in vertical height. The edit is superposed to evoke old CD and DVD record-able media cases and their weird artwork of gradients and neon colors.

Cavern 41

Image
Cavern 41 This cavern has a large chamber/entrance shaft to the right and two shafts down to the left. It is composed of 4 or 5 chambers, with passages connecting very organically. It has several droplet dead ends, or bottoms out in several passages down, and there are no exits. It is 271 ft in vertical height. Here is an edit that is attempting to look like raised stone. Like senseform or braille for sightless creatures.  A touch map to feel in the dark. Something to navigate in the humid stone halls, and something that can be read intuitively to see routes and holds and pitches and breakdowns without giving your position away.

Cavern 40

Image
Cavern 40 Five passages in or none, depends what you choose. One large to the far right, and all the others smaller. Mainly chamber/chambers with circular passages connecting them all almost, no obvious exits. It is somewhere around 309 ft of vertical cavern, but many overhangs and shelves are there, so there is no on point that will drop you the full distance. The edit is brilliant neon colors and washes, has a compass to topside, and a message. Oh, and ankhs to mark entrances.

Cavern 39

Image
Cavern 39  A huge amount of passages and chambers, too many to detail. Vertical height is 402 feet approx. Lots of nooks and crannies that open into large chambers, and the light would be really cool to see it going distances and illuminating around corners and stuff. The edit changes the stone and the geometry/texture of the walls. It also adds Gigantic chunks of Gold ore left behind from ?Mining?  Was this all a gold vein at one point?

Cavern 38

Image
Cavern 38 To complex, not gonna bother, you got eyes. Height is 536 feet! This edit uses Chemiluminscent, ultraviolet, cavern friendly glowing pigments. Maybe from lizard ink or mushroom spores or strange ores and minerals ground and mixed.

Cavern 37

Image
Cavern 37 One passage up and out. One middle passage in and two flanking, the left one further. Two right ones enter a chamber with a midstone. This is really one large chamber, with a couple radial passages and one offpassage and the leftmost coming up to meet. There is also a upbell and ledge near the top of the chamber. Vertical height is a cool cool 525 feet of dangerous plunges. Here is the Midnight Manner edit.

Cavern 36

Image
Cavern 36 Two downshafts and paths down which culminate in teardrop-shaped chambers, four to be exact. No paths out. Total vertical height is 500 ft. Edit keeps the lower sections unchanged, but the middle becomes choked with rock formations or boulders, and the top with opalescent striated stone or some other exotic rock formation.

Cavern 35

Image
Cavern 35 I am not even going to bother. Tons of passages, tons of chambers, I don't even know where to start. there are three ways in, and no ways back out other than the entrance shafts. It is 993 ft high. So water moves things. It is the primary agent of erosion. Caves are a result of water moving. Now, when you have people, suddenly the water moves their garbage. So I have a couple "tables" for things that might get pushed by water and remain in water for a little while. These are reasons to dredge sump bottoms and to search lake and pool bottoms. I have a whole lot more, but for now here are three, Coins, Metal Objects, and Pottery Sherds. Here is the map edited to include sumps/lots of water.

Cavern 34

Image
Cavern 34 Where to start? A series of large chimneys and passages form the entrance and down, then a chamber of immense size and scope with a top connection to a organic series of chambers and passages. This cave is varied and large, and with a total vertical height of 1298 feet of vertical space the variety of chambers and passages is staggering. Navigating this would take quite some time.   The edit adds features such as water, a different type of stone, algae from water, stalagmites, a stone bridge, and passages out and off.  Also heres a bonus DARK cavern.

Cavern 33

Image
Cavern 33 This cavern has a spokelike pair of interlaced entrance shafts, but dead ends pas the chamber connected to these shafts. There is a halfhearted attempt to go off in a side passage, but it ends, and the main chamber/chambers only loop back within their passages. it is 378 feet in vertical height, and most of that is all contiguous. In the edit I altered the stone color, and affected the cavern so as to remove most of it's organic feel or qualities. Now it is very geometric and would likely be different type of stone. I added a light for variety and to give some sense of space or light casting with the change in geometry. It also has a lot less connections and passages.

Cavern 32

Image
Cavern 32 One shaft up into this cavern with 215 feet of vertical height. Two small chambers and several offshoot shafts make this cave have somewhere around two clear paths, but there are three dead ends and  two shafts up and out. The edit adds a spell's effect. This is the spell. Mongrel Map Magic User Level: 6 Duration: Permanent Range: Touch Create a map of multiple states of the same location, location must already be mapped. For example, part of the map may become gradient labeled, colored based on material, temperature mapped, historically regressed, or otherwise altered. Cavern 31

Image
Cavern 31 Gigantic opening at the base of this cavern, one small and one large shaft upwards, then two off and downshafts, and a club and curl at the top. Dead end as usual lately, and also almost entirely passages. Vertical height is somewhere around 524 ft. The edit adds stone texture and mineshafts. Red and blue are for differentiation purposes, and up and down is dumbwaiter/elevators and the horizontal black arrows are minecart rails.

Cavern 30

Image
Cavern 30 This cave has one entrance shaft and after ta few ledges and passages, but it dead-ends. It is 1000 ft in vertical height. The edit labels the locations/features with C O L O R F U L names!      Here is a fever dream style story about Alphabet route.  Grotto Grotto looked at the black rope in his hands and felt scared. He walked over to the ledge and reflected on his tall surroundings. He had always hated the darkness of alphabet route, and berkant pothole with its soft, slippery stone. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel scared. Then he saw something in the distance, or rather some one . It was the figure of Pitch Pitch. Pitch was a bold climber with sweating features many scars. Grotto gulped. He glanced at his own reflection in the slippery stone. He was tough, determined. But not even a tough person who had once brought himself back from the brink of death, was prepared for what Pitch had in store today. Grotto began to climb up, above the ledge and out.
