Listening Wind

  Listening Wind by Talking Heads!  The VaM-style spell today is Listening Wind- the title coming from this song by Talking Heads! My parents love Talking Heads - I love Talking Heads. This album is extremely good, and all the tracks could be spells:  Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On), Crosseyed and Painless, The Great Curve, Once in a Lifetime, Houses in Motion, Seen and Not Seen, and The Overload.   200- The Oracle There is a doorway to the west, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is locked and closed. This room is quite empty save a green ceramic pedestal in the center of the room, upon which sits a black sphere. It is slightly metallic, feels light and slightly hollow – and there is a small white circle with the number “8” upon it. There is also a flat section on the sphere, inset there is a glass window, revealing the inside to be filled with a blue liquid – which is potion of Contact Outer Spheres.   199- Twenty Lasers There is a doorway to the east, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is unlocked and closed. There is a doorway to the south, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is unlocked and closed. There is a doorway to the north, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is unlocked and closed. There is a doorway to the west, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is unlocked and closed. When the players enter this room, have a crazy lazer sound at the ready – play it 20 times in a row, and describe 20 blue lasers extending across the room in a semi-random grid. The lasers are not harmful in any way, but the players have no way to know that other than testing this out. If anything, organic or inorganic touches the laser, have all the lasers turn red then turn off – then reset the lasers.   198- tarot There is a doorway to the south, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is unlocked and closed. There are two doorways to the east, each is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – they are locked and closed. Inside the room is a huge stack of rectangular cards, the size or normal rugs – and when someone enters they start shuffling and arrange themselves to be read and considered. The room is roughly 25X15 feet, each hallways/passage in and out is around 5 feet wide.

  197- Aerquer Chamber There are two doorways to the north, their doors are made of oak, with brass doorknobs – they are locked and closed. There is a doorway to the south, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is unlocked and closed. There is a doorway to the west, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is unlocked and open. The floor in this room is a gigantic grid of 8X8 squares. Floating in the air are 128 square pieces, 64 orange and 64 blue – each has 4 sides with pips. The grid is alternating orange and blue. The pieces can be pointed and directed – and the game can be played – it is a real game, one I created If you want rules, I might consider telling you them if you ask The room is roughly 35X35 feet, each hallways/passage in and out is around 5 feet wide.

  Flood by Jars of Clay!  The VaM-style spell today is Flood - the title coming from this song by Jar of Clay! I like this album, there is some interesting breakbeat stuff happening off somewhere in there, or at least I like the percussion (One example of what I mean about breakbeats being in there somewhere is Love Song For a Savior ) - and the rest of the instrumentation so good - and I love the vocals. It is all about Christianity, so I like to listen to it to consider that point of view and man, I just cannot stop listening to the tracks - They are all good. All of them.   196- Backgammon Den There are two doorways to the north, their doors are made of oak, with brass doorknobs – they are locked and closed. There is a doorway to the south, the door is made of oak, with a brass doorknob – it is unlocked and closed. There are 10 2-person tables with each having 2 chairs in place. Each has a backgammon board and pieces sitting atop it. The room is roughly 17X17 feet, each hallways/passage in and out is around 5 feet wide.

  195- Spore Cloud There are 2 doorways into this room, each has a wooden door so warped and molded from moisture that is is negligible, nearly falling off the rusted hinges – and the pitiful excuse for a doorknob will break off in even a gentle grip. The smell is overwhelming. The walls are covered in a furry green mold and moss – which is offputting a noxious odor and visible spores, a cloud of them. Exposure for more than a minute will lead to some serious hacking and coughing, more than five is lethal. The room is roughly 20X15 feet, each hallways/passage in and out is around 5 feet wide.

  194 – Puppeted Gnome Spasms There are 3 doors into this room, each but one has a wooden door so warped and molded from moisture that is is negligible, nearly falling off the rusted hinges – and the pitiful excuse for a doorknob will break off in even a gentle grip. The one doorway that does not have a door still on the hinges is the western one, it has been pushed down, likely by mandrills. When the PCs enter the room, have a shambling horrible grey corpse wearing a red cone hat shamble in – it makes sounds like air coming out of a vagina and the dull vocal fry of a sick man each step it struggles through. Puppeted Gnome HD 2 HP 7 Speed 120’ Armor 13 Morale 12 Attack will try to get near you, then when close enough will dispatch 1D4 worm envoys. Special : Filled to the brim with worms.   193 – Mandrill Horde There are 3 doors into this room, each is a wooden door so warped and molded from moisture that is is negligible, nearly falling off the rusted hinges – and the pitiful excuse for a doorknob will break off in even a gentle grip. The one doorway that does not have a door still on the hinges is the eastern one, it has been pushed down, likely by mandrills. In this room is a horde of mandrills Mandrill Come in hordes of 1d12+3 HD 1 HP 6 Speed 130’ and 130’ Climbing Armor 13 Morale 7 Attack 1d4 grabs and rips. Special : They are usually friendly, but if something ticks them off – they are very aggressive. Things that tick them off: Showing your neck a lot, smiling or baring your teeth, loud noises, moving towards them, touching them, or eating food might all cause an attack.
