Room 8

8- Pickle Storage

This room is filled to the brim with jars – each packed with pickles – there is a very weak attempt to have a couple aisles so one could peruse this room, but it is really a squeeze.

The jars are stacked to the ceiling, and take up almost 80% of the room.

There are only 18 searches allowed here, with each search taking 1d4 minutes/the amount looking for that particular pickle. Each searcher counts as one search. Each failed search means that type of pickle isn't present.

Any attempt to remove a jar other than the topmost one will have a percentage chance to cause a fall, which could then cause an avalanche of pickle jars.

Each teetering tower of pickle jars is about 60, give or take one. So, the base chance is 35% to have jars fall over if you remove a jar, cause you can brace it and be fine, but the chance increases by the amount of jars above it – at one percent a jar. So if you go for jar #41, that's 19+35, for a 54% chance of collapse.

Each dedicated holder of the tower reduces the falling chances by 5%. Falling jars deal one damage, and tend to fall in large groups that often will hit multiple people, sometimes many jars at a time. There is also the concern of what was in the jars – IE salty brine and pickled things, and the broken glass and sharp lid.

The door to the east that is the entrance to this chamber is made of walnut, and has a cast-iron doorknob, not lockable, and starts closed.

The room is roughly 20X20 feet, each hallways/passage in and out is around 5 feet wide.
