Cavern 5
Cavern 5
Things are starting to get more complex. this cave is most logically a 150-200 ft cavern in total vertical height.
This cave seems simple, but that means I wanted to do something more interesting when editing it.
This cave is two entrance shafts down, and the right shaft splits into two. The right terminated in a small chamber, and the left pitch terminates in a small chamber connected directly with a larger open area. There are a few additional passages and two final shafts down, with the left one simply becoming a teardrop shaped cavern.
The map necessitates a bit of cleanup, as the patchy sections interrupt several shafts, but perhaps that could be realistically formed air pockets trapped after cave ins?
In any case, simple cavern.
Here is the edited one.I smoothed things over to make the squeezes more noticeable, and extended patchy sections to connect all the cavern together.
I also added a large section of passages, and if we assume the passage height to be 5 ft, then the total aggregate height, vertically from the opening shafts to the bottom of the catacomb is 1003 ft!
These shafts are labyrinthine, and one interesting though would be to treat them as birds-eye view instead of vertical slices like all the caverns are intended to be viewed as. this means the cavern section would be vertical, but once players reach the actual stone passages that are humanoid made, the map would function flat as rooms and hallways from a birds-eye view.
If the catacomb is treated vertically, it is hellish, with many vertical drops and perhaps few if any handholds. Most likely ladders or other such infrastructure would be nessecary without magic or meticulous SRT rope traversal. Simply adding water to lower sections would also create HELLISH sumps in certain sections.
I did not place creatures, traps, objects, doors, or other such features in the catacomb, and would love to hear or see what you would suggest. Additionally, if you have other edits you make or suggest to the first cavern let me know!
Thanks!
