Venus by Bananarama!
The VaM-style spell today is Venus - the title coming from this song by Bananarama!
This was one of those songs I just cannot get enough of - I walked a lot to this song - and the music video: God I just can't get over the music video. Here is the music video - another great Bananarama music video is Cruel Summer, but that one pales in comparison.
This video is just perfect - everything about all parts of the whole video - from the costumes to the effects to the angles to the colors to the dancing, my god - the dancing!
It is like all the best parts of twin peaks - like the perfect line between goofy and sexy and scary and colors and movement - I just cannot overstate how much I love the video.
Oh, also - the song is a cover - the original is by Shocking Blue.

Duration: 1D8 X Caster Level rounds OR that many minutes – result kept hidden from caster
Range: Caster and a 30' radius around them
The
caster’s head explodes in a pressure-vacuum diaspora – and their
head-meat, skull, brain, et cetera, is shot everywhere in a mist of
blood and chunks – likely covering a 30’ radius hemisphere around
their person in vis and boneshards and clumps of hair.
Like
a balloon popping in reverse – forms something – point of origin
is the center of the caster’s head – a swelling sphere is
breathed into life – Venus, miniature, floating and swirling
celestial body, a planet distant brought here.
Everybody
in the radius of the head explosion who got any of the caster’s
head-meat, skull, brain, et cetera - to touch their skin cannot harm
the caster while their head is a planet.
When this spell
expires – the planet flies away like a breath of wind pushing a
dune of salt – and beneath the planet’s surface is their head –
whole and hale. If the caster takes damage, the spell ends
immediately.
While the planet lasts – the caster gains the following abilities: Cast Light at will, cast Comet at twice per combat, cast Love’s New Moon once per combat. They also may lock their head in place, meaning they cannot move away from where their head is – they may do this at will for the duration of venus.
Comet
– as Magic Missile
but they have a 50% chance to
stop before hitting and fly in orbit around target – then they will
break off after 1 round and go after a new target. This may continue.
Love’s
New Moon – as Command
but only for flying objects –
this spell may be cast in response to an action. Common Commands are
things like stop, orbit me, speed up, etc.
When
the spell ends – the caster loses their next action in combat –
or they are stunned for 1D6 minutes out of combat – the spell is
very disorienting.
Miscast Table
1 – The caster’s head just explodes, and they die.
2 – Mercury: Instead of normal effects – everyone who gets touched by the caster’s head-meat, skull, and brains has the effects of Haste as if cast by a Magic-User of the caster’s level. Then mercury emerges for the duration – no other spell effects manifest.
3 – Earth: The planet that emerges is heavy – requiring constant strength checks to stay standing upright – also that is all the spell does.
4
– Mars: A 50’ radius sphere around the caster is filled with
shifting red sands for the duration of the spell, no other effects,
and their head does become a miniature mars for the duration.
5 – Jupiter – The planet emerges, and after the duration – falls off and the caster’s head was just somehow behind the planet – the Jupiter-Egg cracks open and something is conjured forth – out of the egg comes the results of a casting of Summon.
6 – Saturn – The planet has extremely sharp rings that shoot out in a great circle away from the head – they cut through almost anything. This happens one a round in combat on the caster’s action, or once every minute out of combat – for the duration of the spell.
7 – Uranus – Heaven pours in, jet black and placid as a lake – it pours forth, gallons a second – for the duration of the spell, originating from the surface of the planet like cold vapor from a supercooled nickel ball.
8 – Neptune – This planet is ice – and when it elapses – the ice cracks off – and fuses to the ground – which will now have permanent patches of extremely slippery ice.

– Pluto – A planet emerges, but when the caster’s head returns
after the spell’s duration – their head will be 50% smaller.
10 – The Moon – The spell works as normal, but is the moon instead of venus – and the next time the caster is exposed to moonlight, they must immediately cast Venus, even if it would potentially miscast.
11 – Halley’s Comet – The emerging body is a superexpansive cold mass of some ice, but mostly space dust – everyone, including the caster, in 1500’ feet, is frozen solid.
