What is the Hypogeal Enigma?
So I thought I should make a post to contextualize the Hypogeal Enigma - The megadungeon I've been working on- here's the gist:
A wizard has a wife.
Wife is dying.
Wizard goes slowly nuts.
Goes and retrieves locket of hair from when they first met.
Uses in many attempts to make a simulacrum or clone.
Builds immensely complex interior structure to attempt to make/create his wife from a cloned younger woman the same as she once was.
Is pretty much impossible, and she died or dies to the same illness repeatedly, finds out her true nature, and/or goes different paths and becomes a different woman.
She always dies of cancer - cancer that the wizard causes and is immune to due to his magical-ness.
Wizard leaves or dies or stalks the dungeon as a lich - haven't decided yet.
Structure is filled with life support for retainers, friends, jailed enemies, the wizard, his family, wildlife, ETC , so an ecosystem forms there - in the broken ruins.
There's a sun on a path - many magical plants - monkeys and lizards - butterflies and wasps - magical experiments, automatons - wild traps and rogue magicks - and lots and lots of water and mold damage all over the place.
There is a focus on a structure - but then as time passes - how would the elements start to reclaim, warp, or alter that structure - how would a magical underground ecology work?
SO -
What is next?
Well - I have already done 220/281 - So I will resume doing 5 rooms every five days - with updates each of the 5 days - and when I hit 281 - I will begin removing, altering, editing, adding, and otherwise making the whole thing improved.
Thanks!
