Resynthesis
Duration: Till’ the synthesis reverts due to instabilty
Range: Caster’s shouting range
Sometimes two things are opposed – in many ways most things have some counter or opposite. This spell supplants the natural balance that all things have – and disrupts the natural conclusion reality has drawn – creating impossible phenomena.
The effects of this spell are twofold:
1: The caster shouts towards something – and – quite abruptly, whatever they are shouting at stops: Something is defined as some individual quality or factor – such as shine, gravity, damp, bleeding, reflection, ETC
2:
Whatever is stopped is now recontextualized with some new balancing
or mitigating factor of the
caster’s choice – so
instead of something wet being contrasted by something dry – it
might be contrasted by something loud, hot,
glowing – ETC.
So if the caster shouted towards warm – and
chooses spikiness – so if things that are warm in her shouting
range are interacted with in a way that would normally make them
cold, instead they become spiky.
This lasts until it becomes unstable – instability occurs when the newly contrasted quality is interacted with or interacts N times, where N is the caster’s level. Once the spell is unstable, the caster saves vs magic each time the quality is interacted with, and if they fail the spell ends.
I hope this makes sense – it reads like complete madness.
Miscast Table
1 – The Referee chooses what was shouted at and what it is contrasted with.
2 – Something goes horribly awry – and this fundamental change extends one mile and for the duration of one hour.
3 – This casting attracts a kind of gaze – a watching hungry force: It looks like flies, sounds like pebbles dropping into water, and comes in great droves from seemingly nowhere – emerging somewhere in the radius of the spell and from what appears to be thin air. It wants to alter the caster in a manner most disquieting – it seeks to make them worse. (Referee; have this force drain levels, spell slots, experience, youth, blood – whatever seems worse or most unnerving.)
4 – If the spell somehow affects the qualities of the caster – these changes in contrast are permanent.
5 – The caster’s voice physically flies out with their shout – and will return once it has sated it’s desire to wander and explore the area. (2D4 hours)
6 – The spell just cracks reality in such a fundamental way – unexpectedly so – and because of this caretakers will emerge, as all present freeze and time stands still. The caretakers will summarily repair reality and then depart.
7 – The spell just cracks reality in such a fundamental way – unexpectedly so – and because of this caretakers will emerge, as all present freeze and time stands still. The caretakers will summarily repair reality and then depart, taking the caster with them.
8 – The spell just cracks reality in such a fundamental way – unexpectedly so – and because of this caretakers will emerge, as all present freeze and time stands still. The caretakers will summarily repair reality and then depart, taking the caster with them, and replacing them with someone that is their exact opposite.
9 – The spell is unusual in scope: it is only perceived by those who believe in some sort of religion.
10 – The spell is unusual in scope: it is only perceived by animals.
11 – If the spell somehow affects the qualities of people – these changes in contrast are permanent.
12 – The changes in contrast are permanent.
